Video Message vs GuestPix, POV and other guest photo-sharing apps

A photo-sharing app gives you a gallery. Video Message gives you the photos too, plus your guests’ video messages and written notes, edited into two films.

Short answer

Guest photo-sharing apps such as GuestPix, POV, Wedibox, Kululu or Joy collect your guests’ photos and videos into one gallery, often with a live screen. None of them says it edits a film for you. Video Message collects photos, one-minute video messages and written notes through one QR code, then delivers two films: an automatic film of every video message within 24 hours after the collection closes, and a personalized film with the photos and notes. Pick a photo app if you only want photos, a $0 plan or long storage. Pick Video Message if you want the film.

What a photo-sharing app gives you

A gallery. Guests scan a QR code, upload what they shot, and you download everything at the end. The good apps make that step easy, with no account for guests and often a live photo wall in the room.

What you are left with is a folder: hundreds of photos and clips, in no particular order. If you want something to watch with your family, you have to sort, cut and edit it yourself, or pay someone to.

What Video Message adds

Video messages at the heart of it. Each guest can record up to 3 one-minute videos: the toast your best friend gives on camera, your grandmother’s words, the cousins’ table. A guest book you can hear and see.

An automatic first film. Within 24 hours after the collection closes, every video message is edited into a film, with no work on your side.

A personalized film with everything. You pick the photos, the notes and the order, then the music, the color look, the transitions and the opening and closing text. No editing skills needed.

The rest stays simple: photos sent several at a time, written notes delivered as a PDF ready to read, a live photo slideshow on any screen with a web browser, sharing by link, and every file as a ZIP. No app and no account for your guests.

When a photo-sharing app is the better choice

If photos are all you want, a photo app does the job, and most have a $0 plan. We do not.

If you want to keep files online for a long time: GuestPix, Wedibox and Kululu keep them for 12 to 24 months depending on the plan, POV with no stated limit. Video Message deletes everything 3 months after your first film is delivered, with an email reminder first, so download what you want to keep.

If you want unlimited uploads, videos on the live screen (GuestPix, Kululu), a printed photo book (POV), an audio guest book (Wedibox) or a wedding website with RSVPs (GuestPix, Wedibox, Joy).

You can also use both: a photo app for the gallery, Video Message for the messages and the films. Just give guests one clear job for each QR code.

Frequently asked questions

Is Video Message a GuestPix alternative?

Yes, if you want more than a gallery. Both collect guest photos by QR code with no app. Video Message adds one-minute video messages and two edited films; GuestPix offers a $0 plan, longer storage and videos on the live screen.

Does GuestPix make a film of the wedding?

Its website, checked on October 9, 2026, mentions a gallery, a live slideshow and a written and video guest book, but no edited film. Video Message delivers two films.

Do my guests need to download an app?

Not with Video Message: guests join from their phone’s browser with a first name, and can even leave it blank. Among photo apps it varies: GuestPix, POV, Wedibox and Kululu need no app, Joy’s guest book does.

Can I get photos and video messages in the same place?

Yes. Video Message takes photos, one-minute video messages and written notes through the same QR code, and uses all three in the personalized film.

How long are my files kept?

Video Message deletes everything 3 months after your first film is delivered, with an email reminder first. Download your films, photos, videos and the PDF of messages before then.

How much does Video Message cost compared with a photo app?

$49 per event, one payment, or 3 events for $99, with the slideshow and both films included. Photo apps range from $0 plans to around $119 depending on the app and the number of guests.
